WE OFFER TECHNOLOGY THAT ALLOWS PRODUCTION OF GREEN BIODIESEL FUEL ON SMALL ISLANDS WITH LITTLE TO NO WASTE

Concept
Processing of Used Cooking Oil using technological components of local origin.

Biodiesel production with no use of hazardous chemicals and with no side chemical products.

Use of Biodiesel for refuelling of watercraft of various categories.
Key Problems of Current Biodiesel Production Process on Islands
  • 1
    Hazardous chemicals
Shipment of hazardous chemicals to the islands – small batch shipment, dangerous transportation (i.e. leakage), potentially dangerous for ecology.
  • 2
    Expensive transportation
e.g. cost of ferry transportation can be more than 700 euro per trip.
  • 3
    By-products
Need to utilize side chemical products to sell glycerol separately.
Island UCO Problem
Now the UCO has to be exported at bargain prices or disposed of on the island (either buried or thrown into the sea)

1 litre of oil pollutes 10,000 litres of water!

Traditional Technology

The traditional technology uses biodiesel based on methyl alcohol esters. Methyl alcohol, alkali, is used and the by-product, glycerine, is obtained at the output.

The use of this technology in mainland countries has no difficulties (there are factories supplying alkali and buyers of glycerine). But the cost of such biodiesel for refuelling small vessels on the islands is relatively high and not cost-effective.

Traditional process for producing biodiesel from waste cooking oil, using H2SO4 and KOH as catalysts
Our Technology
The alkali is replaced with a catalyst without a validity period. It must be supplied once with further purification
Application of catalyst AS-XW allows to increase productivity of existing equipment, as well as significantly reduce waste disposal costs, because ecologically clean catalyst AS-XW will completely replace H2SO4 and KOH
Use of catalyst AS-XW combines Step1 and Step 2
    • We use components produced on the islands - ethyl is used instead of methyl, which is the waste of alcohol production usually existing on the islands.
    • Glycerine is included in the fuel with low sulphur content.
    • The exclusion of unnecessary transportation and the use of local materials reduces the cost of biodiesel, which makes its use for refuelling small vessels cost-effective (MGO and MDO)
    • The technology allows for easy scaling. The equipment for this can be either traditional or the most modern and convenient type, like the flow reactors of a French company Corning® Advanced-Flow™ Reactors.
Benefits of Technology
  • No methanol
  • Absence of alkali
  • No chemical by-products requiring recycling
  • Local production
Product Benefits
  • 1
    Low sulphur
  • 2
    Simple logistics
Potential Producers and Product Consumers
Producers
  • State organisations (introducing sustainable technologies with clear benefits for the environment).

  • UCO collection companies (expanding opportunities).
Consumers
The end product can be used for refuelling of watercraft of different categories at the same cost as now, but more environmentally friendly
